African Insight Academy is committed to working with each school based on their individual needs and requirements and we ask each school to contact us so that we can create a bespoke experience for your school’s ethos. Every school is unique, and we want this to be reflected in the type of camp your school offers.
African Insight Academy offers everything from 2-night camps to month-long camps: Why do we do this? Because every school has come to us and asked us to design a specific type of camp. There is no better camp, it depends on what you are looking for.
In all of our camps, we focus on the learning that takes place there. We want students to leave with new perspectives, gratitude and a better understanding of the individual and their environment.
Our camps focus on:
1. Diverse Learning Environments
Each camp presents a new setting—for example from savannah to wetlands, mountainous terrain to riverine ecosystems—ensuring that participants are exposed to a wide variety of environmental conditions. This diversity enhances their adaptability and broadens their understanding of ecological systems and conservation principles.
2. Thematic Specialisation
We like to focus learning on specific topics at each camp. One camp may focus on wildlife tracking, another on community engagement, another on survival skills and another on leadership development.
3. In-Depth Skill Development
During longer stays at each location, participants can work intensively on various skills such as bushcraft, first aid, conservation management and team leadership.
4. Facilitated Reflection and Growth
We integrate structured reflection and mentorship into the programme. Evening debriefings, group discussions and one-on-one counselling sessions allow participants to process their experiences and grow personally.
5. Reduced Logistical Complexity and Risk
Control over safety and emergency procedures. Our medical care, food and accommodation are consistent, mitigating the risks associated with a long journey across multiple landowners’ properties.
