African Insight is researching a comprehensive gap year / internship programme.  The objective of the Global Citizenship Internship is that participants will invest a year in a mind-stretching opportunity aimed at broadening their knowledge, technical and life skills through a range of hands-on and immersion experiences, activities, and projects.

Participants taking part in the programme will experience no less than 50 different experiences, technical tasks and life skills over the course of the year. Some may be completed in a day and others may take months or even the whole year to complete. Some skills will earn them a formal qualification and others a certificate.

Ultimately, the goal is for the participants to take away skills, knowledge and experiences that will last a lifetime.

Participants will spend blocks of 1-3 months in 5 different locations in South Africa. Sometimes they will be with a group of other participants whilst undertaking an activity, project or task and, at other times, they will be on their own. At all times they will be under the supervision of African Insight directly or a partner host in the programme.

Do not give any thought to the cost or practicality of any task, skill or project. We will evaluate every contribution in terms of the practical and financial implications.

Do not worry if you think that you are the only person in the world that would want to do or learn that.  There may be a valuable life skill that it addresses.
